Kaaterskill Falls is located in Spruce Creek in the eastern part of the Catskill Mountains of New York. It’s a beautiful two-stage waterfall that is just a simple hike away. This makes the Kaaterskill Falls such a popular location and sight to see in the Catskill Mountains. We hope you find these pictures of to be just as remarkable as seeing it in person!

With campgrounds all around the Catskills, Kaaterskill Falls is an easy drive for most people living around the east coast! The waterfall reaches a total height of 260 feet high, making it one of the Eastern United States’ highest waterfalls.
Kaaterskill Falls most likely gets its name from early English-speaking colonists from the early 18th century that butchered the name “Catskills”.
To access the hike, you’ll have to look out for the lower trailhead parking lot. The parking can get really crowded, particularly during the summer months, so plan on getting their early to ensure you get a spot.
You start the hike walking along Route 23A to get to the beginning of the trailhead. It’s a bit dangerous and there’s not really a shoulder or sidewalk to walk along. When there’s a lot of traffic along that road, be careful!
The trail is only 0.4 miles, but it’s pretty steep and rocky. We’d suggest wearing comfortable sneakers!
You’ll get to see some awesome waterfalls as soon as you start the hike with Bastion Falls.

The first stage of the waterfall you’ll see has a great viewing area so that you can take pictures and cool off in the water.
The second stage of the waterfall was our favorite! You can take a dip in the water to cool off and take some amazing pictures to brag to your friends! It’s beautiful! Just be careful swimming, the rocks are slippery.

We love venturing off the trails (assuming it’s safe) and taking some pictures of the scenery around us.
During our most recent trip, we set up David’s hammock to relax in for a little while. This was at the lower end of the trail.
