While traveling on the road has been a true blessing, the lifestyle can get lonely sometimes. We always have each other as support systems, but we still miss our friends and family back home.
Fortunately, thanks to the power of the internet, connections, and networking, we didn’t have to spend this 4th of July alone. An originally spontaneous trip by Isaac from Skooliana became a gathering that we would all remember for years. Even better? Our weekend featured buses, vans, and even a box truck!
Before I sound too “sappy”, hear me out a bit. Our 4th of July was spent beside a beautiful, bright blue lake in Oakridge, Oregon. We were fortunate enough to find a gorgeous spot right on the water. You definitely had to “work” to get there (we had to get our old girl Charlotte down a pretty decent grade), but it was worth it.
So, what happens when you put a group of “content creators” together without access to cell service? Well, obviously we get a bit creative. Instead of staring at screens this 4th of July, we shared our dreams and backgrounds with each other around a fire. We all encouraged each other to grow through experiences and stories. And, of course, we took a ton of insane looking shots.
It’s so incredible to be apart of a community of van and bus lifers that are here to support each other no matter who they are. While the world seems so confusing right now, we’re happy to be around so many incredible nomads that aren’t judgmental. We’re so far from home, so feeling welcomed is all we ever wanted.
Because of this, Oregon and our time here will always have a special place in our hearts. We’ve met so many amazing people over the past few months – so many that I could probably write a book about it. We’ll save that for another day, but for now – enjoy some of the beautiful memories that we were able to make this weekend. We hope to meet some more awesome people out on the road one day!
